Last week, a large-scale attack took place with the virus ransomware “Wannacry”, with system infections being reported to organizations all around the world.
The attack caused huge damage as it was based on a security gap that existed in Microsoft software. Security updates have been released since March, but hackers have exploited the fact that “vulnerable” targets, such as hospitals etc, have not yet updated their systems.
You will find instructions below that will help you avoid infection of your systems by the ransomware:
- You must install the Microsoft Hotfix that you will find at the following link: https://technet.
microsoft.com/en-us/library/ security/ms17-010.aspx - The antivirus that you use must be up to date
- If you have the Panda Adaptive Defense 360 installed, it should be in lock mode
- Users should be notified not to open suspicious files
